I think all of us can agree that Mid-Century design has become one of the biggest influences in today's modern world. From Mad Men to HGTV, Mid-Century aesthetic is an everyday occurrence. Today we are still enjoying breakfast at our Saarinen Tulip Table, taking naps in our Eames Lounger, and having panic attacks when we find a vintage Bertoia on craigslist.
Loll Designs was inspired by these mid century modern furniture pieces. In 2003 founders Greg, Dave, And Tony had an idea...why not have the same luxury, design, and quality brought outdoors? And why not go a step further and create these pieces to be eco-friendly lounge chairs made for future generations to enjoy?
Eight years later Loll took it a step further and joined forces with one of the great names of Mid-Century Design - Ralph Rapson. Loll's CEO, Greg Benson, happened to run into Toby Rapson (the son of well-known architect and furniture designer, Ralph Rapson) during an event in Minneapolis. The meetings prompted Toby to rethink his father's notable rocking chair as an eco-friendly outdoor rocking chair using recycled materials. A collaboration was made and soon the Rapson Collection for Loll was born. But why stop at rocking chairs?
During one of their meetings they came across some old sketches from Ralph Rapson dating back to 1943. The "Cave Chair" was added to the collaboration and for the first time ever was put into production.
Retro furniture meets recycled outdoor furniture. We like to think Ralph would be pretty pleased knowing his modern chairs are now made with both materials, and manufacturing capabilities not available when they were first conceived.
Loll is pleased to announce that from January 9th to January 16th you will get 20% off and free shipping on the Rapson Collection. Please visit our site for more details.
